A break in the valley of tranquillity …
Val Casies is renowned for tranquil tourism, for the expanse unspoilt nature, the well-manicured landscape and the mountain areas, and most of all the many alms, some open to the public and offering refreshments. From the bottom of the valley (near Rotmoos Hof) excursionists and nature lovers can start their light or more challenging excursions, through forests and paths, to the alms and the mountain tops at the end of the valley. In winter five alms will spoil visitors with South Tyrol delicacies, and the sledge track can be a great fun experience for the whole family. During the summer months, from our farmhouse it is possible to reach seven alms open to the public.

Excursion recommendations
Forcella di Casies (pass at 2,205 m asl): Starting from the farmhouse, the path goes up towards Messner alm or Kradorferalm alm, and the new Oberbergalm, with wonderful views of the Austrian alpine landscape. From here, it is possible to go further, to the top of the Monte Altacroce mount (2,739 m) or Corno di Fana di Casies (2,819 m). Other popular destinations are: Almenweg 2000, a ring path that passes by several alms open to the public, both on the East and the West of the valley, or Lago Nero (Black Lake, 2,455 m).

Cross-country skiing
Winter challenges at our doorsteps: the access to a circular cross-country skiing track, exposed to the sun (and lit by night), is right outside and is linked to the endless cross-country tracks of Val Casies. Thanks to the altitude, on the cross-country skiing tracks in front of Rotmooshof there is no shortage of snow.

Alpine skiing
The “Santa Maddalena” ski lifts are only 800 metres away. The renowned Alpine skiing tracks in the relatively safe skiing complex are readily available. A must for Alpine skiing lovers is the Monte Alto mount (2,593 m).

Snow shoe excursion
Rotmooshof is also the ideal starting point for visiting the unspoilt nature on snow shoes. If you want to experience the Alpine world and the cultural heritage of the mountain away from the beaten track, this is the right place.
